Mr. Barnes had a complete turnaround in his life when a kind hearted lady beautician steps in to help raise money to support him after being attacked and assaulted by a thief. Life has been quiet challenging for him due to some biological defects he suffered at birth. Mr. Barnes hasn’t secured a permanent job in his life time due to unbearable stares he gets on the streets as a result of his unique condition.

Katie Cutler meets Alan Barnes

Katie Cutler, a local beautician decided to step in to help raise £500 for Barnes when she heard of the incidence. The appeal has exceeded and already passed £281,000 and still rising by the minute. Mr. Barnes had a chance to meet and show his sincere appreciation to Katie and spoke about how overwhelmed he was with the amount of donations pouring in from all over.

“The youth of today don’t always get portrayed in a positive light, but I won’t ever forget what this young woman has done for me. This is the best thing that has ever happened to me. I always knew there were good people in the world and this has confirmed it.”

Speaking on BBC this morning, the pair revealed how lawyers and tradesmen have offered their services to them at no fee after hearing of the unfortunate incidence.

Miss Cutler added: “A full kitchen has been offered, a conservatory, a bathroom. There’s an electrician, a tiler – you name it … everything.”

Some well-wishers have also started a separate fund for Miss Cutler which is currently worth £580, to raise funds for her to go on a holiday. She’s however, declined acceptance of the money because she believes other people are more deserving.

Catherine Kirkley who’s the campaign founder wrote: “We all know Katie has done a wonderful job for Alan. Let’s help her have a wonderful holiday x.” With polite manners in response to the fundraising, Miss Cutler replied: “Hello everyone, this is so incredibly kind but I really can’t accept anything. I have my full life to work and I can’t help but feel that there are people out there who would really need it.”
