On Wednesday, Adobe introduced its document-scanning app—Adobe Scan. Now the question arises—Why should we choose Adobe’s app when there are other scanning apps on Apple’s App Store or on Google Play store? The new document-scanning app by Adobe brings with it the Adobe Document Cloud integration. The app can be downloaded and used for free; however, users will require an Adobe ID to enjoy its features. This ID is available for iOS and Android.
Though the new app works similar to every other available scanning app, it gives you the opportunity to sharpen the scanned document and give a touch up to scanned content or photos. With the new app, users are able to scan multi-page documents and further save the scanned content as PDF files. Text recognition is one of the major features provided by the Adobe Scan. It is similar to the one provided by Microsoft Lens, which enables users scan images in the form of editable documents—specifically useful for working professionals and students.
The app description on the Google Play by the company specifies that:
The Adobe Scan app turns your device into a powerful portable scanner that recognizes text automatically (OCR). Turn anything—receipts, notes, documents, pictures, business cards, whiteboards—into an Adobe PDF with content you can reuse.
Bryan Lamkin—Executive Vice President and General Manager, Digital Media at Adobe—said in the company release that Adobe Scan represents a thorough re-imagination of how one can capture the most essential and important document content.
Lamkin further said, “Adobe had created PDF creation for PCs, and with the new Adobe Scan, we are repeating the same for the mobile world. Being a part of the Adobe Document Cloud, niche apps such as Adobe Scan incorporate with services in Acrobat DC and Adobe Sign, thus offering a new document experience along with extraordinary value to our customers.”
In today’s fast-moving tech world, new software and apps that will make our work and lives easy are a must, and Adobe has taken one step towards the same. Time will only show what more we will be experiencing in the future to come.
